The Ecology Retreat Centre (ERC) needed to move their existing website from a host-based site builder onto a more flexible, future-proof platform. They also needed to add in e-commerce functionality, to accommodate new rules that had come into effect. I worked with them to assess their current content, rebuild the site on WordPress using Elementor Pro, and add in the e-commerce element—with a focus on usability, adaptability, and long-term sustainability.
In a nutshell, we:
- Started from scratch building the site in a staging environment in WordPress
- Rebuilt each page in Elementor Pro, using the theme builder to maintain the brand style already established in the existing site
- Added functionality via WP Forms, with registration forms and integrated payment through the Stripe gateway, to simplify bookings, reduce admin overhead and make the ERC compliant with TICO regulations
- Made the site mobile-responsive, to make sure the site’s accessible and intuitive for all users across devices
This wasn’t a complete redesign. More like…a strategic transplant (with a bit of spit and polish added in the process). By moving to WordPress and using tools like Elementor and WP Forms, the ERC now has a site that can grow with them and adapt to their needs over time. Yay!
I’m so happy to say that the Ecology Retreat Centre now has a flexible, nicely functional site that supports their operations and gives them room to evolve. It was a great pleasure to work with the ERC.
